Kota Kinabalu: A company was fined a total of RM6,500 after pleading guilty to three charges involving the sale and possession of unregistered products and possession of products containing poison without a valid licence.
Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan imposed the fine on Sarborn Mart Resources Sdn Bhd after its director admitted to the charges on Tuesday.
On the first count, the company was fined RM1,500 for selling a 60ml bottle of Vet Oral Solution that was not registered with the Ministry of Health at its premises in Papar on May 29, 2024.
The offence, under Regulation 7(1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations 1984, carries a maximum penalty of three years’ jail or a fine of up to RM50,000, or both.
On the second count, the company was fined RM2,000 for possessing two unregistered products, a bottle of Vet Oral Solution 60ml and a box of Pet Skin Disease medicine, at the same time and place.
On the third count, the company was fined RM3,000 for possessing products containing poison without a valid licence for sale at the same premises.
Pharmacy Department Prosecuting Officer Zulkefli Mohamad appeared for the prosecution, while the company’s director was not represented.
