MORE than 5,000 Muslim congregants filled the Sabah State Mosque to listen to a special lecture titled “The Greatness and Virtues of Friday Worship”, delivered by Ustaz Abdul Somad Batubara before performing Friday prayers.

The event was also attended by Sabah Head of State Tun Musa Aman, who arrived at the mosque at 11.45am, and was received by State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, who also serves as Sabah’s Religious Affairs Exco.

The lecture served as a spiritual programme for congregants before performing Friday prayers led by the Grand Imam of the Sabah State Mosque, Suhaidi Kuanting, while the Friday sermon titled “The Practice of Reading the Quran” was delivered by Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) Director Awang Juri Awang Tahir.

Also present were Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Isnin Aliasnih; Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Ruslan Muharam; Assistant Minister of Youth Development, Sports and Creative Economy Anil Sadhu; as well as the Sabah State Mufti, Bungsu Aziz Jaafar.
