KOTA KINABALU: Jasli Majilan, 30, was sentenced to five years’ jail and one stroke of the cane by the Sessions Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to stabbing his wife.
The labourer assaulted the 31-year-old victim with a knife on December 5, 2025, at a rented room in Jalan Padang Merdeka, inflicting a penetrating wound to her left ribs and a lung contusion.
Despite Jasli’s plea for leniency due to having seven children, Judge Hurman Hussain agreed with the prosecution that the targeted violence toward a vital part of the body warranted a deterrent sentence.
The victim was treated at Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1, and the case was prosecuted under Section 324 and Section 326A of the Penal Code for causing hurt to a spouse.
