TAWAU: The remand of 74 China nationals detained in a raid on a Tawau resort over alleged involvement in an international online scam syndicate has been extended until April 12 and 13.
Fifty-seven suspects were given a two-day extension, while 17 others were remanded for three days to assist ongoing investigations under Sections 420 and 120B of the Penal Code.
Police said the extension is needed to complete investigations, including recording statements amid language barriers. The suspects are believed to have operated a scam network impersonating Chinese police.
