KOTA BELUD: A man died after a 10-tonne lorry carrying stones that he was driving skidded and caught fire at Ulu Kukut along Jalan Kota Belud-Kudat here on Sunday morning.
The incident at about 11.30am involved a 55-year-old victim who was believed to have been thrown from the vehicle before being pronounced dead at the scene by the Health Ministry due to severe injuries.

Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.36am.
He said eight personnel were deployed to the location, about 34 kilometres away, with a fire engine and a Toyota Vigo four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Upon arrival, the lorry was found overturned and on fire, and firefighters carried out extinguishing operations using a hose reel and foam before handing the deceased to the Royal Malaysia Police for further action, with the fire brought under control at 12.50pm and the operation fully concluded at 1.17pm.
