Death inquest: Training officer not aware cadet had sick form
IPOH: The Coroner’s Court was told that the daily training officer on Kapal Diraja (KD)  Sultan Idris I did not know that Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) cadet officer J. Soosainmanicckam, who died during training two years ago, had been given a sick form.

KD Sultan Idris 1 course planning officer Nur Suhana Kasim Bakri said the form was normally given  by the officer on duty during the night briefing to any cadet who wanted to seek at the Armed Forces Hospital (HAT)  the following day.

However, she said, when she took over as the trainer on the morning of May 19, 2018, she was informed by the duty officer about the sick form been issued to Soosaimanicckam.

Nur Suhana, who is the third witness, said this when questioned by lawyer Zaid Malek, representing Soosaimanicckam’s family, on the fourth day of the inquest proceeding.

The forum, set for Feb 4-5, 2026, aims to strengthen Sabah's position as a competitive Asia Pacific hub for Business Events and cross-border collaboration.
Soosaimanicckam died during training at 1.45pm on May 19, 2018 at 96 HAT.

Meanwhile, Coroner Azman Abu Hassan ordered Nur Suhana to bring to the court the log book, or other documents,  that showed she was on duty as the daily training officer on May 19, 2018.

The order was made as the KDSI Daily Order did not state Nur Suhana as the daily training officer on that day, but it was Lt Comander Fariz Hedry Ling Firdaus Hedry Ling.

The coroner also instructed deputy public prosecutor Nurul Qistini Qamarul Abrar to call Datuk Rusli Ramli, who was then the RMN Education and Training Commander to testify. The inquest proceeding continues tomorrow.- Bernama
