JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor government has expressed its readiness to host the establishment of the Tesla Supercharger network, says menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

In a Facebook post, he said he had the opportunity to meet Tesla regional director Isabel Fan to discuss the mega electric vehicle (EV) company’s plans.

He said Malaysia’s conducive ecosystem and government policies emphasising on transitioning to green technology, among other things, made Tesla confident about investing here.

State investment, trade and consumer affairs committee chairman Lee Ting Han and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) CEO Arham Abdul Rahman were also present at the meeting.

Onn Hafiz hoped the plans would come to fruition, leading to job creation and local firms’ involvement in Tesla’s investment ecosystem, domestically or globally.

Special committee to look into proposed construction of HSA2

Onn Hafiz also said a special committee will be formed to look into the proposed construction of Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2 (HSA2) on land owned by the defence ministry.

He said the construction of HSA2 is crucial as it can reduce dependency and congestion at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

“Hopefully, the joint efforts of the federal and state governments will have a positive impact on Johoreans’ quality of life,” he said.

Last month, health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the health and defence ministries were discussing land ownership ahead of the proposed construction of HSA2.
