Kota Kinabalu: Former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said Sabah continues to exemplify harmony in diversity, where mutual respect among people of different faiths and cultures remains a way of life.
The former three-term Kota Belud Member of Parliament and current Sabah Umno treasurer said there is no room for prejudice or polemics in Sabah’s multicultural society, as people continue to uphold their individual beliefs while strengthening relationships across communities.
“It is truly heartwarming to receive Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings from friends of different faiths. It reflects genuine friendship and mutual respect,” he said in a Facebook posting in conjunction with Aidiladha celebrations.
Salleh said Sabahans also extend greetings and goodwill to friends celebrating their respective religious and cultural festivals, reflecting the true spirit of unity and togetherness.
According to him, respecting others does not weaken one’s own beliefs, but instead reflects the maturity and strength of a society that values harmony and shared humanity.
He said Aidiladha serves as a reminder of the beauty of respect, understanding and togetherness among the people.
“Eid Mubarak. May the spirit of sacrifice strengthen our bonds and unity,” he said.
