KOTA KINABALU: The Pertubuhan Peladang Negeri Sabah (PPNS) has been officially placed under the patronage of the State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Ministry in a move aimed at strengthening Sabah’s food security framework.
The recognition, announced by the State Government, comes together with several new agricultural initiatives, including the Kitchen Garden Initiative and interest-free loans of up to RM50,000 for young agro-food entrepreneurs.
PPNS Chairman Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah said the measures introduced by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar were timely, especially amid rising input costs in the agricultural sector.
“The comprehensive approach through the Kitchen Garden Initiative not only encourages people to grow their own food, but also helps expand the food production chain at community level,” he said.
