THE Coroner’s Court here on Monday was told that a photo and a video retrieved from Zara Qairina Mahathir’s mobile phone were original and had not been altered.
Computer Crimes Investigation Unit analyst ASP Mohd Zaidi Abu Hassan who continued his testimony before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan that based on his experience, both the image and video were unedited.
He said this in answering questions from counsel Datuk Ram Singh, who asked the 70th deponent to display from a pendrive a photo and a video showing Zara cycling with another girl.
Mohd Zaidi also agreed with Ram that the persons in the photo appeared to be smiling.
To a further question on whether the smiles could have been edited, tampered with or modified, Mohd Zaidi maintained that the photo was original and had not been altered in any way.
He added that the video was likewise not edited, tampered with or modified.

The deponent also told the court that data extracted from the device showed the photo was taken on July 12, 2025 in the evening, while the video was recorded on the same day at 4.43pm.
However, he said no location data was available for both the photo and video.
Mohd Zaidi further testified that a total of 3,625 photos were retrieved from Zara’s mobile phone, marked as exhibit WF1.
For July 12, 2025, he said three videos were extracted from the device.
He said the mobile phone was handed to him by one Inspector Wong with instructions to conduct checks and analysis.
To another question from Ram, Mohd Zaidi said he only analysed the exhibits given to him based on the investigating officer’s request, and determining whether there were any criminal elements was left to the investigating officer.
“My task at that time was only to extract what was required by the investigating officer,” he said.
He further testified that the records extracted from the mobile phone handed to him could not identify the owner of the telephone number.
In answering questions from counsel Clarice Vyonne Conrad, he said that the forensic examination he conducted did not include verification of the owners of the phone numbers or the mobile phones.
For mobile phones that were locked and password-protected, Mohd Zaidi told the court that the investigating officer had provided him with the passwords and PINs.
He added that in his analysis, the XRY software would indicate whether a document had been deleted or not.
