TAWAU: A moneylender and a runner were charged on Wednesday with trafficking 130,575.18gm of syabu last month.
Ng Chuan Tong, 51, and Herman Patte, 35, indicated that they understood the charge when it was read before Magistrate Dayang Aidaku Amira Aminuddin.

No plea was recorded pending the chemist’s report on the drug, and their plea will be taken at the High Court.
According to the charge, they allegedly jointly trafficked the drug at Batu 15, Jalan Apas here at 9.30pm on April 21, 2026.
Both accused were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) read together with Section 34 of the same Act, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
The court fixed June 2 for mention and ordered the duo to be further remanded as the charge carries no provision for bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Haikal Hazwan Md Yatin appeared for the prosecution, while both accused were unrepresented.
