Kota Kinabalu: A 49-year-old man was fined a total of RM4,000 for possessing unregistered healthcare products and cosmetics without notification.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain meted out the sentence to Shagul Hameed Seeni Mohamed, after he pleaded guilty to two charges against him on Wednesday.

On the first count, Shagul was fined RM2,000 in default four months’ jail for having 12 types of products namely several types of aromatic oil, cream and ointment which were not registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Division (NPRA).
The offence took place at a shop in Ranau on June 13, 2024.
The first charge stated that he had breached paragraph 7 (1) (a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984, which was an offence under Sub-regulation 30 (1) of the same Regulations 1984, punishable under Subsection 12 (1) of the Drugs Sale Act 1952.
On the second count, he was ordered to pay another RM2,000 or spend four months in prison for possessing 11 types of cosmetics without notifications namely whitening creams and whitening soaps at the same place and time.
Prosecuting Officer from Sabah Pharmacy Enforcement Branch Angeline Francis William appeared for the prosecution.
