TAWAU: Two local men working as a money lender and a runner claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here on Wednesday to a charge of trafficking 130,575.18 grammes of Methamphetamine last month.

Ng Chuan Tong, 51, and Herman Patte, 35, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dayang Aidaku Amira Aminuddin after the charge was read to them.

They were alleged to have jointly trafficked the drug at Batu 15, Jalan Apas, at about 9.30pm on April 21, 2026.

The charge was framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) read together with Section 34 of the same Act, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

The court fixed June 2 for further mention pending the chemical report, while prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Haikal Hazwan Md Yatin and both accused were unrepresented.
