LAHAD DATU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said efforts to strengthen security in the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (Esszone) will continue through the use of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to ensure stability as the foundation of the State’s economic growth.

He said the State Government is committed to enhancing security capabilities through the modernisation of assets and the use of technologies such as drones, radar and big data analysis to ensure more comprehensive monitoring and faster responses to threats.

Hajiji said security agencies should strengthen the use of AI in operations under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 framework so that the State’s security system remains physically strong and digitally resilient.

He said security is closely linked to economic development and public well-being, adding that investor confidence, economic activities and development potential in areas such as Lahad Datu depend on a safe and stable environment.

Hajiji said maintaining security requires cooperation from all parties, including local communities, while assuring that the welfare of security personnel and synergy between State and Federal agencies will continue to be strengthened to keep the Esszone peaceful and under control.

He said this during the SMJ Roadshow Programme held in conjunction with his security inspection visit to the Esszone at Dewan Perdana on Wednesday.
