KOTA BELUD: Perpaduan has called for broader administrative and constitutional reforms to better reflect Sabah’s status within Malaysia.
Its President, Gundohing Jack Giau, stated that the coalition supports a proposal to rename the Chief Minister’s position to Premier. He explained that this suggestion, made by Parti Star President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, aligns with the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Giau emphasised that this proposed change is an important step toward recognising Sabah as a founding partner in the Federation.
He also noted that Perpaduan proposes renaming the Yang di-Pertua Negeri position to Yang di-Pertua Negara Sabah, which is consistent with constitutional principles and the self-determination concept outlined in United Nations Resolution 1541 and the Inter-Governmental Committee Report 1962.
