Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with drug trafficking.
No plea was taken from Muhammad AK Hafiszan, 25, and Muhd Mazreza Rahimi Kamarul Mazlan, 32, who were brought before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus, separately.
Muhammad was accused of trafficking 641.82gm of cannabis on April 21, this year, at 3.30pm, in front of the Impian Automobile building, Jalan Pantai Berahi, Putatan, Penampang.
Mazreza allegedly trafficked 113.20gm of 3, 4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) on April 21, this year, at 9.05pm, at the lobby of the Garden Condominium Bundusan, Penampang.
They were each charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952.
The charge is punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment, and if not sentenced to death, a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane on conviction.
Magistrate Dzul set June 25 for mention of Mazreza’s case and fixed June 22 for Muhammad’s case, both pending the chemist’s report.
Pending the date, the accused were ordered to be remanded further as the charge against them has no provision for bail.
Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah prosecuted.
