Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Youth Council (SYC) convened its 2026 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in Kota Kinabalu, bringing together 110 delegates to deliberate on the organisation’s future direction.
The meeting was presided over by Permanent Chairman Leslie Chan and attended by members of the SYC executive council, top leadership, and representatives from affiliated youth organisations across the State.
The strong turnout reflected a high level of commitment among youth leaders toward strengthening the council’s role and strategic direction. The EGM served as a key platform for discussions on enhancing youth leadership and organisational effectiveness.
Delegates emphasised the importance of cultivating progressive and resilient youth leaders capable of adapting to evolving social, economic, and technological landscapes.
There was also a strong call for improved policy alignment and the implementation of more structured, high-impact programmes.
Strengthening collaboration among affiliated organisations emerged as a central priority, with participants highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to ensure initiatives are effectively executed and deliver tangible benefits to the youth community across Sabah.
