TAMBUNAN: A police report was lodged at the Tambunan police station over a social media post alleged to have offended the KadazanDusun-Murut community.
Joseph Madais said he lodged the report over the remarks posted by a user operating under the account name Amy Dangin.
Joseph claimed the post portrayed Sabahans who are anti-Illegal Immigrants (PTI) and stateless individuals as lacking connections outside their own ethnic group, or who have never travelled abroad.
Joseph also faced personal attacks in the comment section, including allegations that he was a paid “cybertrooper” linked to certain parties, including the former chief minister Tun Musa Aman and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
He denied the allegations and stressed he had never received any payment from any political party or organisation. He said all comments made were in his personal capacity.
He said the action was not only to seek justice over the alleged defamation, but also to preserve racial harmony and prevent provocations that could affect public order in Sabah.

Meanwhile, Amy, when contacted, said her post had been misinterpreted and taken out of context.
She said the statement was made after observing “dehumanising remarks” on social media directed at illegal migrants, often labelled as “PTI”.
She claimed her intention was to caution against what she viewed as racist and xenophobic attitudes among segments of society.
On her reference to the KDM community, Amy said it was based on her personal observations on social media and was not directed at the community as a whole.
She said she does not hate the KDM community and respects all ethnic groups in Sabah.
Amy also denied supporting the unlawful presence of illegal immigrants but for greater empathy and respect.
