Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA) Sabah branch raised concerns that a prolonged Middle East conflict could severely disrupt the production of plastic food and beverage containers in the state.
MPMA Sabah Chairman Liaw Hen Kong warned that should hostilities between the United States-Israel alliance and Iran escalate, the cost of raw materials is expected to skyrocket.
He said the surge in production costs would inevitably lead to higher prices for locally manufactured plastic goods, placing a heavy financial burden on local consumers and businesses alike.
