Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian with the unusual name Mohd Abcideff says it reflects a personal family connection rather than a novelty.
The 33-year-old senior mobile developer said most people address him as Abcideff or Cideff.
The Star quoted him as saying he has never faced issues with the name, including with authorities.
“They might be a bit shocked at first; if I were them, I’d probably feel the same,” he said.
He said the name also connects him with his sister, Nur Abcida, who shares a similar naming style.
Their parents had randomly used “AB” as the root, which he explained comes from the initials of their father’s name, Ahmad Bana.

He added that while he and his sister have distinctive names, his other siblings have more conventional ones, and people often assume his name is random or a social media nickname.
