Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Ports Authority (LPPS) recorded improved operational performance in 2025, including a rise in cargo handling volume, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He said total cargo handling reached 532,391 TEUs in 2025 compared to 386,293 TEUs in 2024.
He said the increase reflects the strategic role of the port sector as a catalyst for the State’s economic growth at the LPPS Excellent Service Awards 2025 held here on Wednesday.
He said the performance also shows LPPS’s capability in addressing operational challenges, including congestion at several major ports such as Sapangar Bay Container Port and Tawau Port.
He said the State Government has implemented integrated measures, including interim initiatives and a special task force, to improve efficiency and support the State’s economic activities.
