KOTA KINABALU: A Filipina who went viral on social media during an Immigration Department operation at Hongkod Koisaan, Penampang, was among several foreign nationals sentenced for immigration offences.
Rose Edroso Busico, also known as “Rose,” was fined RM500 or three months’ jail after pleading guilty to breaching conditions of her Temporary Employment Visit Pass.
She was found working as a cleaner at a food and beverage outlet in Penampang, despite being permitted only as a domestic helper.
The offence occurred on April 8 at Borneo Beer Garden & Food during Ops Gegar conducted by the Immigration Department.
In a separate case, fellow Filipino Reign Liwagon Atillo was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment after overstaying in Sabah for more than three years after his work pass expired in March 2023.
Meanwhile, eight other Filipino women were each jailed four months after being found without valid travel documents during the same operation.

All were arrested during the enforcement raid and ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving their sentences or paying fines. Prosecuting officer Baxter Junior Goh appeared for the case.
