Kota Kinabalu: A legal team representing Zara Qairina Mahathir’s mother will call 11 deponents, comprising six experts and several family members, to testify in the inquest.

Counsel Datuk Rizwandean M Borhan, appearing for the team, informed Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan of the matter after proceedings were adjourned on Friday afternoon.

He said the experts include document examiner Dr Linthini Gannetion, handwriting and document examiners Dr Tay Eue Kam and Dr Dzulkiflee Ismail, forensic scientist Dr Wan Nur Syuhaila Mat Desa, child psychologist Dr Noor Aishah Rosli and psychiatrist Dr Wong Haw Huo, alongside family members including Zara’s mother, uncle, cousin and another student.

Rizwandean said one expert report had been served on the parties, while the remaining reports would be delivered by next week.

During proceedings, the Coroner raised whether Zara’s father, Mahathir Mohd Hashim, would be called as a deponent, with counsel Nurul Rafeeqa Afdul Mutolip indicating she would seek instructions, while the conducting officer’s team said a separate deponent on Zara’s character may be called if required.
