Kota Kinabalu: A total of 15 handphones with SIM cards were submitted to the Computer Crime Investigation Unit for analysis in connection with Zara Qairina Mahathir’s case, the Coroner’s Court heard on Thursday.
Computer Crime Investigation Unit analyst ASP Mohd Zaidi Abu Hassan, 44, said he received two separate submissions from the Papar District Police Headquarters on Aug 8 and Aug 19, 2025, involving 11 and four mobile phones respectively.
He said all exhibits were in good condition, although several devices could not be examined due to faulty power buttons and damaged LCD screens, while their SIM cards were still analysed for reference.
Mohd Zaidi told the court the exhibits were accompanied by relevant forms, including MF01 and MF02, with the investigating officer requesting extraction of social media data, WhatsApp content, images and deleted files from February 2025 onwards.
He said the analysis was conducted using XRY mobile forensic equipment in accordance with ISO 17025 and National Institute of Standards and Technology standards, with reports later compiled and the exhibits returned to the police on Aug 19 and Sept 2, 2025.
