Kota Kinabalu: Cooperation between the State Government and the Federal Government continues to be strengthened to ensure more inclusive and sustainable development that delivers direct benefits to the people of Sabah.
Deputy Chief Minister II cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said strong ties between both administrations are key to ensuring the State’s development agenda is implemented in a more comprehensive, structured and effective manner for the benefit of the people across Sabah.
He stressed that the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, remains a top priority for the State Government.
Both sides, he said, are in agreement that its implementation should be expedited to ensure Sabah’s rightful entitlements are fully realised.
Masidi received a courtesy visit from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Seri Mustapha Sakmud, and his delegation at his office on Monday.
During the meeting, Masidi also highlighted the importance of continuous coordination between Federal and State agencies to ensure that decisions reached are effectively implemented at the grassroots level.
He further advised all parties to remain prepared in managing the State’s economy amid current global uncertainties.
He noted that international conflicts, inflationary pressures and global market fluctuations could directly impact the local economy if not managed with appropriate strategies.
Masidi added that efforts to strengthen the State’s economic position are essential to ensure balanced and consistent development.
“The State Government must continue to adopt prudent spending practices and focus on all sectors to ensure Sabah’s economic stability remains protected,” he said.
