Tenom: The Tenom District Education Office (PPD) has set a more ambitious target, aiming for a District Average Grade (GPD) of 3.0 for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations by 2026.
District Education Officer Jamilah Talip said the target reflects the continuous commitment of educators across the district to enhance students’ academic excellence.

“Various initiatives are being implemented to ensure students achieve better results, including collaboration with strategic partners who support educational development programmes in the district.
“I encourage students to take full advantage of the assistance provided, while teachers continue to guide and support them towards achieving strong SPM results,” she said during the Nur Rahmah Kasih Ramadan programme at Dewan Datuk Lee Sin Fook, SJKC Chung Hwa here recently.
Previously, the district’s GPD target was 4.85 for 2024 and 4.65 for 2025, as part of a phased approach to gradually improve academic performance.
She added that the initiative aims to nurture knowledgeable and competitive students who can achieve success in the future.

During the event, several contributions were also handed out, including RM3,000 each to six secondary schools for SPM, RM5,000 to two secondary schools for STPM, and financial assistance to SK St. Pius Pamilaan.
PPD Tenom’s strategic partner, Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan, who presented the contributions, said she would give full support to efforts to improve educational excellence across the district.
