SANDAKAN: Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Sandakan is seeking urgent support to manage the stray dogs crisis.

According to its spokesperson, Voo Min Gin,  since 2015, SPCA Sandakan has been diligently working to address the growing issue of abandoned dogs in the district through ollaboration with the International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA).

Known for their expertise in veterinary care and animal population management, IAPWA was approached by the SPCA to help implement a comprehensive management strategy similar to successful initiatives elsewhere.

Despite continuous efforts and numerous proposals submitted to the local authorities, including detailed presentations to the Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan (MPS), the response has been dishearteningly tepid.
