Sandakan records 62 HIV/AIDS cases

SANDAKAN: Sandakan recorded 45 HIV and 17 AIDS cases last year, according to Health Department statistics, said Sandakan health panel chairman, Robert Chong.

Panel Penasihat Klinik Kesihatan Sandakan (PPKKS) held a programme to raise awareness on at a restaurant here.

Some 60 participants took part in the programme.

They were non-governmental organisations (NGO) comprising Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Sandakan Buddhist mission, Jawatankuasa Persatuan Pengurusan Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Sina, Majlis Guru Besar Sekolah Rendah Cina, Jawatankuasa Kegiatan Guru Besar Tadika Cina Sandakan, Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah, Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia and Che Siang Khor Moral Uplifting Society. 

The talk was conducted by Dr Lam and Dr Noreen Ooi.

Chong said more such programmes would be held in the near future.
