TAWAU: Incumbent Merotai Assemblyman Sarifuddin Hatta reiterated he will defend his seat in the coming state election.“One moment it went viral that I will contest in Sebatik, then in Kukusan, and then Tanjung Batu. (But) I have made a statement that I will defend my Merotai seat as there are many development plans in the pipeline. “One of the plans is the Pekan Baharu Merotai which will start next year under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12)… This is our agenda because I am a Merotai native and I was born in Merotai, it is not possible for me to move elsewhere,” he said after officiating a Covid-19 awareness campaign, organised by Kg Pasir Putih Baharu Tawau Community Organisation, Sunday.
