City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the boys aged 12 and 16 plus the 20-year-old female were arrested by police on Op Covid-19 patrol at midnight.

“All three were looking suspicious. Further investigation found both the boys lived in the Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn Bhd (Safma) building while the woman was from Tg Aru. They were there to meet other friends.

“They admitted to sniffing glue before the police caught them,” he said on Friday.

Habibi said all the suspects were taken to the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 1988.

He said investigations would be made under Rule 11 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Areas) 2020.

Meanwhile, Habibi reiterated that no more individual fish buyers and unregistered as well as small-scale wholesalers are allowed to be in Safma.

On April 8, City police barred individual fish buyers and small-scale wholesalers from getting seafood supply directly from Safma to break the chain of the Covid-19 transmission.

“Individual fish buyers and small-scale wholesalers can get their supplies from the six wet markets gazetted.

“Safma registered wholesalers and fishing boats will only be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm,” he said.

In SANDAKAN, police arrested three suspects aged between 21 and 27 believed involved in the recent burglary of a 24-hr outlet at BDC, Jalan Buli Sim Sim.

“The shop was broken into on the night of April 6, with an estimated loss of RM5,000. However, the suspects managed to escape and abandoned their vehicle when they came across a police patrol unit in Kg Forest at 11:29 pm.

“In the Perodua Kembara police have found fast food and medicines in large quantities with the Gemilang store price tag,” District police chief, ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin, said.

Azhar said the police also seized two knifes, a blade and a clear plastic package suspected to be syabu from all three suspects during the arrest.

“The urine test results from the three suspects also found they were Methaphetamine-positive.

“Initial investigations revealed that they were also involved in several cases of theft, robbery and house-breaking in the area,” he said.

All are currently remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Rule 11 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

In BEAUFORT, the district recorded only two crime cases during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, said Chief Police DSP Azmir Abd Razak.

“They involved theft of bird’s nest and fruits because the owner could not get out due to the MCO,” he said.

He said the suspect knew that the owner would stay at home during the MCO and took the opportunity to steal. The cases are still under investigation.

Asked on the security level in the district, Azmir said so far it is under control.

“The police, together with the Malaysian Armed Forces and The People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) will always control the public movement and so far there has been no violation against the order,” he said.

Azmir said Beaufort recorded the highest MCO compliance rate as most of the people here only went out to restock their supply.

He also thanked the people for complying with the order.
