Sandakan: The Sabah Electricity Power Supply open day organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water in collaboration with the Energy Commission and Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB) was extended to Sandakan following the encouraging response from the public after its first announcement on January 22 in Kota Kinabalu.

The two-day open day on Saturday and Sunday, at Harbor Mall, Sandakan aims to provide an overview to all parties, especially the people of Sabah about the challenges faced in providing electricity that is hopeful for the residents in the state of Sabah and the Government's plan to address this problem.

The programme is expected to be officiated by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum Sabah Industrial Development Minister Datuk Seri Raymond Tan Shu Kiah, giving real picture about the frequent problems of electricity supply in the state.

Proposed initiatives that have been proposed through the "Saidi 100 Lab" are displayed for public information on this open day.

This effort proves the Government's concern for the problem of electricity supply disruption which often caused difficulties to Sabahans.

With the close cooperation between the Federal and State Governments and all the parties concerned, the Government believes that Saidi rates in Sabah will be reduced to 100 minutes a year by 2020. - Mardinah Jikur
