1,000 in Charity Ride

Kota Kinabalu: Some 1,000 riders took part in the 1Malaysia Custom Department Charity Ride programme held in conjunction with the 35th World Custom Day at the Merdeka Padang, Saturday.Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, who officiated the programme, praised the organiser for their efforts in organising sports activities which will benefit youth and sports development in the country.

"Cycling in this occasion will foster cooperation, tolerance, patience and physical endurance as well as adding humanitarian values.

"I also understand that most of the contributions derived from this program will be donated to the National Cancer Society or the Makna. This shows you are not merely a hero in economic development, but also to help public aware of the misfortunes, especially cancer patients, " he said.

Also present at the event were State Custom Director Dato' Dr. Hj. Janathan Kandok, Mayor Datuk Yeo Bon Hai, Youth and Sports Ministry Permanent Secreatary Hj Awang Damit Hj. Awang Anak and other officials.
