Sabah aim to dethrone Selangor

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah are hoping to dethrone Selangor and win the futsal title at the 2024 Malaysian Council of Welfare and Sports (Maksak) Games.

The event is scheduled to begin today (Thursday) at the Sport City Indahpura in Kulai, Johor and Sabah are placed in Group B with Terengganu, ATM and Sarawak,

Team manager Asmey Ruddy said the team comprising 12 players are well prepared following a month of training under six coaches and is confident they will be able to pull off a surprise by bringing home the title.

“Our mission this time is to become champions and I believe all our players are mentally and physically ready.

“Last year we only finished in the top eight, but previously, we managed to finish in the top three positions,” he said after receiving the team flag from Youth and Sports Ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun at a ceremony held at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Tuesday evening.
