“This year’s event marks two decades of the Ranau Kaamatan International Offroad 4x4 Challenge. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the unwavering commitment of participants, sponsors, government agencies, volunteers and supporters who have continuously supported us throughout the years,” he said.

Aliyu also thanked Jonathan, Rusdin and Tinus for taking the time to attend the closing ceremony and for their continued encouragement towards the development of motorsports and tourism activities in the district.

He noted that the event has grown considerably since its inception and has become one of the most anticipated programmes held in conjunction with the annual Kaamatan celebrations in Ranau.

Over the years, the challenge has earned a reputation for its demanding terrain, technical obstacles and competitive spirit, attracting experienced drivers and co-drivers eager to test their abilities against some of the toughest off-road conditions in the region.

According to Aliyu, the event serves not only as a motorsport competition but also as a platform to promote Ranau’s tourism potential and foster friendship among participants from different backgrounds.

“The challenge brings together individuals who share a passion for off-road adventure. Beyond the competition itself, it creates opportunities for friendship, cultural exchange and community engagement,” he said.

The organiser also extended special appreciation to sponsors and partners whose financial contributions and logistical support played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme.

Recognition was likewise given to the race officials, marshals, technical crews, medical teams and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain safety standards and ensure the competition proceeded according to schedule.

Aliyu acknowledged that organising an event of such scale inevitably comes with challenges and apologised for any shortcomings encountered during the programme.

“On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to express our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or shortcomings throughout the event. We appreciate the understanding, patience and cooperation shown by all participants and supporters,” he said.

He also congratulated all winners and participants for their determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

“Whether you stood on the podium or not, every competitor who took part contributed to the success of this event. Your passion, commitment and adventurous spirit are what make the Ranau Kaamatan International Offroad 4x4 Challenge special,” he added.

As the curtain fell on the 2026 edition, organisers expressed confidence that the event would continue to grow in the years ahead while strengthening its position as one of Sabah’s premier off-road competitions and a major attraction of the Kaamatan festival calendar.
