MEMBAKUT: Some 30,000 Sabah students sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations will receive assistance from the State Government through the Special Examination Cash Assistance (Bakti) programme this year.

State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said each student will receive RM200 before they sit for the national examinations.

He said the money would be channelled through their respective schools, adding this assistance has been implemented annually to facilitate SPM and STPM candidates and lessen their financial burden, including making necessary preparations for the examinations.

“Hopefully this Bakti will assist the students,” said Arifin, who is also State Education Exco, after greeting and interacting with STPM students, here, recently.

A total of 63 students comprising 53 from SMK Membakut and another 10 from SMK Membakut II received donations such as stationery and exam equipment from Arifin, who is also Membakut Assemblyman.

Earlier, he gave words of encouragement and motivation for the students to achieve excellent results in the exams.

Arifin also advised the students to ensure their health is not affected due to the current hot weather and take appropriate precautionary measures.
