Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government takes note of the current effects of El Nino in preparation for a longer dry spell next year.

He thanked God for the rain in the recent three-day cloud seeding project.
“Cloud seeding is just a scientific effort taken by the government of today. We are thankful it rained in Sabah and today we can see the weather is overcast.
“The goal is to fill the catchment areas which is important for fertilisation downstream and our raw water intake.
“But we can only plan, God blesses us with the rain. In February, Penang carried out their own cloud seeding without results.

“Luckily it rained in Sabah although it did not hit all targets. There was a 67 per cent success rate on the second day.
“Cloud seeding can only be done with suitable cloud formations therefore we cannot guarantee it works,” he said.

Shahelmey, who is also State Works Minister and Putatan MP, said after officiating Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd’s zakat handover to the needy in the district at the Putatan Mosque on Monday.
SESB distributed RM1.8 million Wakalah Zakat to all eligible recipients in Sabah and Labuan from 2022 until 2024.
Meanwhile, its CEO, Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said three generators in Sandakan namely in Mowtas, Seguntor and Labuk are set to produce 55 megawatts for Sabah and Labuan.
“Thank god development is in schedule. The Mowtas generator is up and running and the two others will power on soon,” he said.
Sabah had recently met a new maximum demand that is 1133MW.
Mohd Yaakob said when the generators are completed, energy capacity would increase to 1,300MW.
