BELURAN: State Rural Development Assistant Minister Datuk Samad Jambri said the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) remain relevant.

The Labuk Assemblyman said that since its inception 13 years ago, there has been a positive impact on people’s safety along the East Coast.

“It has also strengthened the confidence of tourists from within and outside the country, while contributing to the improvement of the local economy,” he said after officiating Esscom’s Engagement Session at the Beluran Multipurpose Hall, here, recently.

During the ceremony, 50 individuals in need received donations.

Samad was also briefed about the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) movement control order (MCO) and a survey done by Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

He said that the Esszone’s MCO should be improved further to ensure that the safety of affected areas is optimal.
