Second payment of special financial assistance soon: Yee

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth Movement hopes that the distribution of government’s special financial assistance to civil servants statewide would spur them to continue providing efficient and high-quality services to the rakyat.

Describing it as a demonstration of Sabah Government’s appreciation, PBS youth leader Yee Tsai Yiew said the second and final payment would be disbursed in time for the Hari Raya Aidilftri celebrations.

“As the festive season of Hari Raya Aidilfitri draws near, the government has again demonstrated its appreciation for the contributions of State Civil servants. The second payment of RM1,000 from the special financial assistance, as announced in the Sabah State Budget 2024, is set to be disbursed,” she said.

“This follows the first payment of RM1,000, which was handed out in January, bringing the total incentive to RM2,000,” she added.

The initiative aligns with the allocation implemented by the Federal Government and extends to all State Civil servants, including temporary and contract staff.

Yee said this gesture would be a welcome relief, especially for those preparing for the coming Aidilfitri.

“We hope that this incentive would spur civil servants to continue providing efficient and high-quality services to the people.”

Yee highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance the State Civil Service, with an allocation of RM25.06 million from the State Budget 2024 directed towards the enhancement of knowledge, skills and expertise programmes.

“Having a competent Civil Service is crucial to ensure the successful implementation of the government’s Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) initiatives,” she said, adding this allocation is an investment by the government to improve the quality of service, expand their knowledge and skills, and ultimately ensure the successful delivery of the government’s vision of a modern and developed state.

Yee also commended the collaboration programmes between State Government agencies and the private sector.
