Malaysian Tourism Federation: What happened to tourist safety?
Tan noted that while tour operators play a crucial role in ensuring safety, tourists who plan their travel independently also need to adhere to safety guidelines.
Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Tourism Federation (MTF) urged local authorities and all tourism stakeholders to establish and participate actively in a robust tourism ecosystem that prioritises safety.

Aimed to enhance the safety of tourists in Sabah, the parties include local authorities such as land transport and marine agencies, marine parks, police and tour operators.

MTF President Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the federation is taking serious measures to prevent any future mishaps.

He said the recent fatal incidents involving tourists raised alarming concerns, prompting swift action from the Federation.
