Increase police patrols in Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party

Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Chin Vun Pheaw, is calling for increased police patrols in the city.

This comes after a surge in security complaints from the public, highlighting their concerns for personal and property safety.

Chin reported a recent incident where a vehicle was targeted by a thief near Jesselton Point.

The thief was scared off when passers-by shouted at him, preventing the theft.

Chin pointed out that this incident, along with others involving tourists and local women, all occurred in the central business district’s banking area, extending to Jesselton Point.

Chin suspects that individuals from the infamous Pulau Gaya may be involved and assumes that law enforcement is aware of the connection to these recurring crimes.

Chin also noted that the increase in theft and robbery cases in Kota Kinabalu, a globally recognised tourist city, has heightened public demands for law enforcement action.

While he expressed gratitude for the police’s swift action in previous cases, he emphasised that more criminals are still at large, waiting for opportunities to strike.

Chin is, therefore, urging the police to conduct extensive raids in high-crime areas and apprehend the culprits to ensure public and property safety.

He also encouraged the public to collaborate with the police to improve their area’s security and to report any suspicious persons or activities promptly.
