Kota Kinabalu: State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister of Datuk Christina Liew praised Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) President Datuk Frankie Liew for actively promoting interactions between Sabah and various places, including China.

He often commends and leads Chinese business enterprises and organisations to visit Sabah for exchanges, allowing more Chinese people to see opportunities in Sabah, directly benefiting various fields such as Sabah’s tourism.

“I hope Datuk Frankie and the SCCC committee members will continue to work hard in the New Year to promote more activities, allowing more people to see the beauty and potential of Sabah,” she said.

Various cabinet ministers, political leaders, and community leaders have confirmed their attendance to the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce’s (SCCC) Dragon Year Chinese New Year Celebration.

Frankie said the association received praise for actively promoting Sabah’s foreign business contacts and connections, making significant efforts to revitalize the State’s economy.

The SCCC recently paid courtesy visits to Christina and State Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Sabah, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.

The ministers were briefed on SCCC’s future development direction and work plans, and formally extended invitations to both ministers to attend the association’s Chinese New Year celebration.

When receiving the SCCC, Phoong thanked them for their visit and invitation.

He said under Frankie’s leadership, SCCC demonstrated a proactive spirit and capability, leading members to broaden their horizons, engage in various levels of business fields, and make significant contributions to awakening and enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit of local entrepreneurs.

Phoong looked forward to participating in the SCCC’s Chinese New Year celebration, exchanging ideas with members and business representatives, hoping to listen to and collect more diverse opinions and feedback to continue efforts for the industrial and business development of Sabah.

Frankie stated that with the implementation of the visa-free policy between China and Malaysia, more direct flights, and the government’s welcoming attitude towards foreign investment, it can be foreseen that tourism and various investments will gradually take off this year.

“The association will adjust its affairs and pace in response to the current situation. We will actively participate in promoting various local and international exhibitions and conferences this year, and plan more business visits and connections, exchanging visits to China and Asean countries, hoping not only to find more business opportunities for our members but also to bring more investment opportunities to Sabah,” he said.

SCCC will actively expand this year, seeking capable partners to broaden its service scope, establish broader business alliances and networks, bring greater benefits to like-minded entrepreneurs at home and abroad, and contribute to the social, economic, and cultural development between Sabah-China and Asean.

Accompanying the visits were Deputy President Brett Chua, Vice President Datuk Jonathan Koh, Vice President cum Secretary General Ir. Ts. KJ Tan, Vice President cum Women Entrepreneurs Chairlady Tan SL, Vice President cum Young Entrepreneurs Chairman Chiew HH, Committee Members Lucas Kwan, Alan Thien, Joanis Yee, Stella Chong and Rei Hiew.

SCCC will continue to visit members of its advisory board, inviting them to attend the Chinese New Year celebration on March 2, including Honorary Advisors Datuk James Hwong, Datuk Chee Chi Vun and Legal Advisor Lawyer Jim Lim.

The “Dragon Year Chinese New Year Celebration” will be held on March 2 at 6:30pm at Moretune Club Kick Bistro & Fun Pub, Sunny Garden, Luyang.

All members, advisors, and local Chinese political leaders are invited to join in celebrating the Chinese New Year of the year of Dragon.
