Gagasan Rakyat won’t enter ties with Warisan: Nizam
Nizam (left) also said the statement from Shafie (right), who criticised the party’s stance of not wanting to cooperate to face the PRN, did not undermine the strength of GRS.
Kota Kinabalu: Gagasan Rakyat Sabah’s (Gagasan Rakyat) Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan confirmed that the party does not want to enter ties with Parti Warisam (Warisan) for the next State Election (PRN).

“Even Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) does not want to cooperate with them,” he said during the Gagasan Rakyat Information Bureau’s breaking the fast ceremony here.

The Apas Assemblyman also said the statement from Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who criticised the party’s stance of not wanting to cooperate to face the PRN, did not undermine the strength of GRS.

He said the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in steering Sabah’s direction is very positive, and it is fitting for the opposition to be challenged.

“The leadership of our Chief Minister is now their target. That has become their duty, to continue to oppose, always negating and denying the positive efforts undertaken by the State Government, which has proven to transform and enhance the State’s economy,” he said.

Earlier, a report stated that Shafie refused to cooperate with GRS because of the party’s collective action of “buying” 11 of his party’s representatives.

Nizam said GRS is prepared to face any eventualities that may arise and is not concerned about the planed collaboration between Umno and Warisan in the coming state election.

“If asked whether GRS will engage in discussions with BN to cooperate, the answer is that GRS is prepared, ready for various possibilities, but does not wish to be involved in their (BN and Warisan) cooperation plans.

“I prefer not to comment on the cooperation between their parties. Who they choose to join and collaborate with is their decision, and we respect that.

“What is more crucial at this moment is our primary focus, which is the development of the State because we still have one and a half years remaining.

“There are numerous initiatives, programmes and efforts that we intend to implement for the benefit of the people and the State,” he said.
