Wincentbert and Lavinia the champs
Wincentbert crosses the finishing line to win the men’s open title.
Kota Kinabalu: Wincentbert Latius and Lavinia Kong captured the Borneo Half Marathon men’s and women’s open title on Sunday.

Wincentbert crossed the finishing line in the 21km race in one hour 20 minutes and 13 seconds ahead of second placed Wan Muhammad Irham (01:22:05) and Cheng Loong Liew (01:24:02) in third.

Lavinia on the other hand, finished in one hour, 41 minutes and 16 seconds to beat national cyclist Natahsya Soon (01:45:21) for the top prize followed by Shamiera Auther (01:52:39) in third.

In the 11km open category, the men’s title went to Romeo Gomboh (39:51) with Irfan Izz Affandi Irfan (42:57) and Zaid Suhaipin (43:31) in second and third place respectively.

The women’s title was won by Sharlene Fioney Sonny (54:13) followed by Adella Dhaniya Muhd Adam (55:52) and Adella Dhanisa Muhd Adam (55:57).

The other top three winners in the respective veteran categories were Yusop Tungkob, Guianus Salagan, Joseph Lau (21km men senior veteran); Kona Liau, Mimi Yong, Lucia Eppisser (21km women senior veteran); Milton Amat, Ruston Masri, Manan Abdullah (21km men veteran); Jamie Fu, Irene Goh, Christianne Samsom (21km women veteran); Aznil Faez Ismail, Tivel Peter, Seidi Maidi (21km men junior veteran); Stephanie Wah, Li Min Hon, Ryehana Rajap (21km women junior veteran); Michelle Idrawatty, Alista Siew Yin Kong, Jukini Eyoh (11km women veteran); Vilin Imelda, Isidore Amin, Lubita Gunsiong (11km women senior veteran); Royland Dinisin, Dilly Tyrance Jaimis, Syafiq Sapri (11km men junior veteran); Bacho Pasaka, Zonius Pongki, Jimbin Johnny (11km men senior veteran); Mohd Zulkarnain Masuyuk Abdullah, Mohd Fadzli Patman, Suparman Burhan (11km men veteran); Nuryati Pulong, Candy Jia Wei Lo, Kimberly Fe Joibi (11km women junior veteran).

More than 2,000 runners took part in the event co-organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall and Kinabalu Running Club (KRC) in conjunction with the Kota Kinabalu City 24th anniversary celebration.

The 21km race was flagged off by KRC president Dr Heng Aik Cheng at 5am while Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah flagged off the 11km race at 6am.
