Sandakan men, women emerge champs

Kota Kinabalu: The Sandakan men’s team won the State-level Sabah Handball Association (SABHA) Educators Handball President Cup tournament, which was held at Yayasan Sabah’s Tun Adnan Complex from January 26 to 28.
Keningau and Penampang placed second and third, respectively.

Sandakan also won the women’s category, with Keningau and Beaufort taking second and third, respectively.
The tournament featured 26 teams: 11 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams. It was co-organised by SABHA and the Sabah State Education Department.
The champions were presented with trophies and medals while the second and third place winners received medals.
SABHA President Datuk Awang Aslee Lakat, who also serves on the Beaufort Giat Mara Board of Advisors, presided over the closing ceremony and prize presentation.

Also present were Sabah State Education Department (Student Development) Assistant Director Charles Lawrence @ Muhammad Ariffin Abdullah, SABHA Deputy President Vijaya Kumar Arumugam, SABHA Vice President 1 Rizwan Dahlan, SABHA Vice President 3 Nazir Salleh and Programme Coordinator Mohd Yahde Ag Matusin.
