LAHAD DATU: Wildlife rangers shot dead an 11-foot crocodile in a river at Kampung Terusan, here, on Wednesday.

Lahad Datu Wildlife Department Officer Silvester Saimin said three personnel went to the location upon receiving information about the crocodile sighting near the traffic light.

Upon arrival, the team spotted the crocodile and fired a shot which killed it.

“The operation was carried out at about 3.30pm and the crocodile shot dead was a female,” he added.

Crocodile sighting in Lahad Datu is not uncommon. In 2015, a crocodile caused a stir when it made an appearance at the drain alongside the traffic lights of Jalan Terusan-Lahad Datu.
