Kota Kinabalu: The Inspire Karate Club Papar displayed commendable performance after securing second place in the 2023 Shitokai Brunei Open Championship at Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei Darussalam.
The club fought their way against 12 other teams that saw the participation of some 200 athletes from Brunei, Malaysia, India and Philippines in the competition held from Dec 1 to 3 – securing seven golds, four silvers and eight bronzes.

Throughout the competition, the club’s Senior Male Team Kumite (16 years and above) comprising Alvin Tam, Haikal Danial Halid (UMS), Awangku Aqeel Rauf Ag Amli Noraufe (Institut Sinaran Kota Kinabalu), Noah Nathaniel Jeffrey (SMK St Mary Papar), Muhammad Danish Ikhwan Radinkar (SMK Benoni Papar) grabbed first place in the category.
The Senior Female Team Kumite (16 years and above) with members Alyssa Tam (MAHSA College Sabah), Audrey Jane Katrie, Nur Batrisyia Bilqis Halid (SM St Joseph Papar) showed the same performance after bagging gold in the category.
