Kota Kinabalu: How was it that the Cobbold Commission formed by the British to gauge whether the people of North Borneo and Sarawak were agreeable to be part of the Federation of Malaysia, had no representatives from the Borneo territories?

At the recent Jan 29, “Sabah Way Forward: The Rise of Borneo” webinar, former Sabah State Secretary Tan Sri Simon Sipaun (pic), in his “British North Borneo and the Promise of Malaysia” presentation stressed that only one third of the small sample of respondents as gauged by the Cobbold Commission members, who included Malayans like Ghazali Shafie and Wong Pow Nee, were receptive to the idea of North Borneo federating into a new nation called Malaysia.
