More dynamic bumi entreprenuers

Kota Kinabalu: The Government is committed to developing Bumiputera entrepreneurs to be more dynamic and competitive, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.He said to be successful, entrepreneurs need to change their attitude to be more positive and dynamic and keen to increase knowledge in various aspects of business management.

"This is because, in the era of knowledge-based economy today, only knowledgeable and informed people can go forward and succeed," he said, when officiating the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional) Carnival at Padang Merdeka, Saturday.

"We do not want Bumiputera entrepreneurs to drop out of competition especially in critical industries that have been ascertained.

"We need to be prepared to face the challenges that come in our quest to shape the economy of developed countries. Nevertheless, this challenging atmosphere is actually capable of promising good returns if we strive harder and earnest," said Musa.

He said the State Government is always giving assistance, support and encouragement to traders and entrepreneurs, thus providing space and opportunities for the people, including women and youths, to engage in active participation in entrepreneurship.

He also said that the State Government appreciates the pursuit of the BN government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who always provides support to traders and entrepreneurs to advance in their respective fields.

Musa said that in the 2018 budget he announced recently, the State Government provided a special allocation of RM105 million to help entrepreneurs including projects that could benefit the people.

 He also noted that most of the entrepreneurs who have obtained financial assistance from Tekun have succeeded in their businesses by earning lucrative income and can then provide employment to youths.

"I think this is important because with this progress, we can help our people to get jobs and income to our people," he said.

Musa also thanked Tekun for providing loans and assisting local entrepreneurs who are looking for progress.

At the event, Musa presented the Tekun successful entrepreneur awards State level 2017 to 23 successful

entrepreneurs selected from 23 parliamentary constituency throughout the State.

The selection criteria was based on the satisfactory method of repayment and business performance showed improvement after obtaining Tekun financing.

Musa also presented Tekun Finance cheque worth RM5,410,000 to 207 recipients.

The inaugural two-day carnival held in the State which participated by 80 participants comprising small and medium entrepreneurs is a platform for them to promote and market their products and services as well as expanding network activity and business network.

Also present were Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Deputy Minister Dato' Sri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, Deputy Chief Minister cum Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin and Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang.
