PAPAR: Residents in Kinarut will soon be able to enjoy the latest blockbuster films closer to home following the signing of a tenancy agreement between 10Star Cinemas Sdn Bhd and WSG Development Sdn Bhd to develop a cinema and ballroom at Kinarut Palm Avenue.

The 20-year lease covers 17,000sq ft on the ground floor, which will be converted into six screening halls for 10Star Cinemas. A Majestic Ballroom will be developed on the first floor, spanning 21,000sq ft.

WSG Group Managing Director Susan Wong Siew Guen said construction is scheduled to begin in June, with completion targeted by the end of 2027 or early 2028.

“It will mirror the successful model at Parklane City in Benoni, Papar, where we integrated a cinema and ballroom to create an entertainment hub for the local community.

“Once completed, residents will also be able to host events and functions at the Majestic Ballroom,” she said at the signing ceremony, Thursday.

The agreement was signed by Wong, representing WSG Group, and Onn Norshal Hamzah, Chief Executive Officer of 10Star Cinemas.

The ballroom will be able to accommodate up to 600 guests in its main hall and 100 in a smaller function room.

Wong added that other components at Kinarut Palm Avenue will include an Everrise supermarket and a Level Up 24-hour gym, further enhancing the development as a community hub upon completion.

Meanwhile, Onn Norshal expressed appreciation for recent upgrades to the existing Majestic Ballroom at Parklane City Benoni, which include the installation of a six-metre LED screen and a lift.

He said the LED screen cost RM75,000, while the lift installation amounted to RM200,000.

“We hope these upgrades will enhance the experience of guests at the Majestic Ballroom in Parklane City, Benoni, Papar,” he said.
