The man was charged with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code while the woman charged with  two counts of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means under Section 324 of the Penal Code and also causing hurt under Section 323 of the same Code.
KENINGAU: A couple pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday to assaulting two boys under their care.

The 27-year-old man and his 36-year-old lover, who were brought before Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry, admitted to the charges framed against them, respectively.

The man was charged with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code while the woman charged with  two counts of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means under Section 324 of the Penal Code and also causing hurt under Section 323 of the same Code.

Magistrate Flavian set May 17 for mention pending the full medical report on the two victims.

The man was offered a RM2,500 bail for each of his charges while the woman was released on a RM6,000 bail on each charge.

Both accused, who were not represented, failed to furnish the bail.

Meanwhile, Keningau OCPD Supt Yampil Garai said the couple were arrested on April 5 after reports were lodged against them for abusing their (adopted and step) sons aged 13 and 5.

Supt Yampil said the teenager was believed to have been abused with hot iron, pressed on his abdomen and back at least four times, based on the wound marks, and hit with wood and iron rod, for lying that he had finished selling the burgers and coming home late.

He said the woman had also allegedly spilled hot water on the floor before asking the younger boy to step on it, scalding his feet and in another incident, she pressed hot iron on the boy’s arms for not changing his diapers immediately after waking up.

Both accused had previous records for drug related cases, he said.
